Colorado Republicans propose election law changes
Two Republican senators are proposing a more efficient way to vote. The idea of mailing ballats to voters seems efficient in the eyes of the republican senators and is favorable among the state of colorado. The republicans are wanting to give voters an opportunity to opt out of the mail ballats due to the validity of the the ballats. There will be a hearing on Monday January 27, 2014 deciding weather or not to keep the mail ballot law or to undo it. Republicans are very strict about voting laws and pledge to fix or undo any laws threatining the validity of ballots.
As citizens of the United States of America, we are given Natural Rights and of these rights we have the right of sufferage and are able to elect representatives that we see fit to govern our community, state, and nation. In the constitution Article 1, section 4, paragraph 1 it states that the time and place of elections for representatives and senators, shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof; but the Congresss may at any time by Law make or alter such regulations, except as to the places of chusing Senators. This proves that the election through mail is not legally when electing senators. It is much better to have different locations where citizens can go to vote in stead of voting through mail.
Another problem that I see going wrong with mail, is the fact that some citizens may not have an address or to that matter a current address. This could become a large problem due to the fact that a ballot may not be valid. There are many mail theives and multiple ballots could potentially fall into the wrong hands. Another issue that could occur is the mail being delivered to the wrong address, maybe a person is out of town or the mail went to their vacation home. There are so many different issues with mailing ballots I can see why the republicans want to go back to the traditional local voting places.
